March 2021 | Kentish Rain | KCK Soapery

This batch was made for a friend who now works at a private medical laboratory. She decided to use my handmade soap for laboratory week this coming April.  Their logo colors are teal and black .  I sure hope I got the color motifs right!

I made the soap using a recipe from the book "Milk Soapmaking" by Anne Watson.  It includes coconut oil, cocoa butter, palm kernel oil, olive oil, and rice bran oil.  The process was saponification provided by goat's milk and lye (sodium hydroxide solution).  Colors used were blue mica, activated charcoal for black ,and titianium dioxide for white.

Fragrance oil used is called "Kentish Rain" which is described as a fresh and earthy mix of basil, green leaf, lily, rose, violet, sandalwood, and tonka bean from Brambleberry.

Here is a video of this batch:

May 2018 | Body Butters | KCK Soapery

I modified my body butter ingredients a little since it is getting warmer and my first body butter recipe melted when I left a container in the car one warm April day.

Although I highly recommend not leaving the body butters in warm space, this new recipe contains beeswax which is known to be very beneficial to the skin and will keep the body butters a little firmer.

I love the process of making up a recipe, adding and weighing the ingredients, and trying to make the final products look and feel pretty.  That is why most of my products have more ingredients than what is necessary. They are all natural, not synthetic, and will give additional benefits to the skin.

The body butters below contains Shea butter, Mango butter, Avocado butter, Coconut oil, Avocado oil, and beeswax.

Cocoa body butter has an added cocoa butter.
Unicorn poop is added with Unicorn poop fragrance oil.
Lavender is added with Lavender essential oil.

September 2017 | Chocolate Lovers | KCK Soapery

Fragranced with Chocolate Lovers, a scent described as a mixture of lemon, orange, bergamot and mandarin, lily of the valley and coriander with notes of sweet chocolate, warm vanilla, and musk.

Inspired by the name of the fragrance oil, I decided to tweak with my recipe and incorporate cocoa butter.  This recipe includes Olive Oil, Palm Oil, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, and Cocoa Butter.

Since this fragrance oil will discolor the soap to some shade of brown I decided to use that discoloration as the main color of the soap and made swirls of white using titanium dioxide and a combination of red and brown mica for the second color.

Dropped both white and the red brown colors into the main batter.

Used a chopstick to make a diagonal design on the top.

Off the mold.

August 2017 | Minions | KCK Soapery

These were made for a "Minions" themed party.

Trying to get the right shade of blue, by adding teal and blue.  Yellow was the combination of yellow and gold.

Used my favorite skin-loving oils for this cupcake recipe which include the following olive oil, palm oil, coconut oil, rice bran oil, castor oil and cocoa butter, and mango butter.

Divided the soap batter as above. I just wanted to add a little white to add more contrast to the blue and yellow.  This batch is scented with lavender and mint fragrance oil.

The base of the cupcake.

Tried to pipe the yellow without covering the blue.

While school shopping, we found a book of minion stickers. Just perfect timing.

Hopefully people receiving these little party favors are going to love them.

November 2014 | Heart Cupcakes | KCK Soapery

Five oil and two butter recipe.  My first batch of soap after almost two weeks.  Got a crazy October this year.

Made the little hearts using melt and pour soap base.

Ingredients for the cold process soap include Coconut oil, Palm oil, Olive oil, Rice Bran oil, Castor oil, Cocoa butter and Mango butter.

The black was colored using activated charcoal and the white with titanium dioxide.

The black was fragranced with Chocolate Lover's blended with Butt Naked and the white part was with China Rain fragrance oil.

Frosting texture was a little on the soft side.  Most held up the spiked tip though.

Topped the frosting with the hearts.

The hearts stayed where I placed them and did not melt into the soap batter.  I was worried about the hearts melting during the saponification process since they were so small.  But they held up.

The leftover batters were poured into the regular soap loaf mold.

The frosting and the hearts behaved just as good as in the mini cupcakes.

The black was not as black as I wanted.  I hope it darkens as it cures since the fragrance oils used contain vanillin.

Happy Soaping!

July 2014 | S's Cupcakes | KCK Soapery

Last week's creation.  The cupcakes were made for a friend who ordered these as a giveaway for her big "0" get together with friends.  So honored to be given this opportunity to share some delightful, no calorie yummy goodness.  I surely hope her friends and the celebrant herself will truly enjoy and want more of these full size cupcakes.

Ingredients were olive oil, palm oil, coconut oil, rice bran oil, cocoa butter, mango butter, and castor oil.  Colored with titanium dioxide for the white, neon pink and cappuccino mica.  Fragranced used for the brown cupcake base is "Butt Naked" described to have a tantalizing base note medley of granny smith apples and honeydew melon, middle notes of strawberries and pears, with hints of spice.  The white base was fragranced with "Honeysuckle" , fresh ozonic honeysuckle blend with hints of jasmine, rose, and lilac.  The frosting was "Baby Clean" which is a unique and calming fragrance oil, has top notes of granny smith apple, lemon zest, and hints of mint, rounded out with blossoms of spring wildflowers, butterfly violets & honeysuckle.

The top were then sprinkled with iridescent glitter sparkles and then off to the oven they went.   Thank you very much "S" for the opportunity to share with you and your friends my creations.

Hope you all enjoy and love using them as much as I love making them.

Wherever we are, it is our friends that make our world.

July 2014 | Bedtime Bath Hidden Hanger Swirl | KCK Soapery

Thankfully, I was able to make a batch of soap yesterday which would make my production level slow down to only one loaf a week for the summer instead of two or three loaves every week during the school months.

Always love the look of freshly poured soap batter.  Ingredients were coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, palm kernel flakes oil, mango butter, cocoa butter and castor oil.  The same ingredients I used for my first coffee soap without the coffee grounds.

Ready to be cut.  This loaf was fragranced with Bedtime Bath type fragrance oil from Nature's Garden which is described as a the soothing bedtime blend of mandarin, lavender and chamomile, neroli and lily of the valley.  Bottom notes of hay and musk.  This description inspired the color choice which includes titanium dioxide for white, deep purple and neon laser lemon dye.  The top was sprinkled with iridescent sparkle glitter.

The hidden hanger swirl were ok but not as impressive as I had envisioned them to be.

June 2014 | Coffee Soap | KCK Soapery

I saw a lot of soapers making coffee soaps, I just had to try it.  Caffeine is supposed to be very beneficial to the skin and incorporating the grounds into the soap add to its exfoliating factor as well.

This first coffee batch was also my first time to use double butters.  It includes coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil, palm kernel flakes oil, mango butter, cocoa butter and castor oil.  The bottom coffee part was fragranced with "Butt Naked" which is described to be granny smith apples, honeydew melon, middle notes of strawberries and pears and a hint of spice.  The topping was unscented.

These were the leftover batter I made into cupcakes.  The topping for the loaf was colored with titanium dioxide to give a lighter contrast to the bottom which was uncolored.  The fragrance oil used has proven to discolor the soap to shades of brown and the batter was made with brewed coffee instead of plain distilled water.

The loaf came out of the mold, easy, looking so shiny, smooth and feels so silky.  I can not wait to try this batch soon.

I am very happy with how the batch turned out.  Thank you very much for dropping by.

Happy Soaping.

June 2014 | Energy Cupcakes | KCK Soapery

Made another batch of cupcakes.  This time I used "Butt Naked" fragrance oil to the cake part of 4 cupcakes.  Description for this fragrance oil includes the fact that it contains vanillin which will discolor soaps to shades of brown.  The above picture showed the darkening of the base as expected.

Ingredients include Olive oil, Palm oil, Coconut oil, Castor oil and Cocoa butter.  I used titanium dioxide for the white and neon pink for the frosting.  Fragranced with Butt Naked for the brown base and Aromatherapy Energy for the frosting and some of the cupcakes as well.

This picture is just to show how the fragrance oil darken the soap on the left.

Happy Soaping!
